Regina King is still mourning the death of her son Ian Alexander jr.
The upcoming DJ killed himself in January of last year, a few days after posting some eerie tweets.
Following his passing, King took a break from using Instagram, but she recently returned to pay tribute to her son on his posthumous birthday.
She shared a video of an orange lantern flying across the sky alongside a caption that expressed her feelings.
"We are all in different places on the planet…so is Ian. His spirit is the thread that connects us," the actress penned.
She also mentioned that she was still coming to terms with his physical absence.
Following her mournful post, the actress received well wishes for "strength" and "peace" as she copes with her loss.
"We still celebrate your forever presence, Ian. I love you forever," a colleague of King posted.
It took King almost six months to return to the red carpet after Ian's death.
