What’s Quordle?
Quordle is a five letter word guessing game similar to wordle, except that each guess applies letters to four words at a time. You get nine guesses instead of six to correctly guess all four words. It’s like playing four wordle games at the same time, and that’s essentially what it is. But it’s not nearly as intimidating as it sounds.

where went Quordle Comes from?
in the middle of the wordle boom of late 2021 and early 2022, when everyone learned to love free, in-browser, once-a-day word guessing games, creator Freddie Meyer says he drew inspiration from one of the first big wordle variations, Dordle – the one where you essentially play two Words instantly. He took things up a notch, and released Quordle on January 30. Meyer’s creation was covered with the guard six days later, and now, according to Meyer, it’s attracting millions of daily users. Today Meyer earns modest turnover from Patreon, where dedicated Quordle fans can donate to keep their favorite puzzle game going.
How is Quordle pronounced?
“Kwordel.” It has to rhyme with ‘Wordle’ and certainly shouldn’t be pronounced exactly like ‘curdle’.
Is Quordle strategy other than wordle?
Yes and no.
Your starting strategy should be the same as with wordle. In fact, if you have a favorite wordle opening word, there’s no reason to change that here. We propose something rich in vowels, with common letters like C, R and N. But you do.
However, after your first guess, you notice that things get out of hand when you play Quordle exactly like wordle.
What should I do? Quordle I don’t do that wordle?
Solve one wordle puzzle can, as is well known, come down to a series of variations of single letter change. If you narrowed it down to “-IGHT”, you can guess “MIGHT” “NIGHT” “LIGHT” and “SIGHT” and one of them will probably solve the problem – although this is also a famous way to end up losing in wordleespecially if you play on “difficult mode.” In Quordlehowever, this kind of winnowing of one letter is a death trap, and it indicates the important strategic difference between wordle and Quordle: In Quordleyou can’t afford to waste guesses unless you remove as many letters as possible at all times.
Guessing a completely random word you already know isn’t the solution, just to eliminate three or four possible letters that you haven’t tried yet is seen as a desperate move wordle. In Quordlehowever, it is a normal part of the player’s strategic toolset.
Is there a way to get a faster response?
In my experience Quordle can be a slow game, sometimes take longer than it takes to play wordle four times. But some kind of blunt-force guesswork can speed things up. The following strategy also works with: wordle if you just want the solution and don’t mind having as few guesses as possible:
Try starting with a set of words that places all the vowels (including Y) on the board, along with some other common letters. We’ve been very lucky with the three words: ‘NOTES’, ‘ACRID’ and ‘BUMPY’. youtuber DougMansLand suggests four words: “CANOE,” “SKIRT,” “PLUMB,” and “FUDGY.”
Most of the alphabet has now been eliminated and you only have the option of making one or two wrong guesses using this strategy. But in most cases, you have all the information you need to guess the remaining words without making any wrong guesses.
