When it comes to design, the year witnessed some of the most stunning designs that were not only avant-garde but also defied convention when it came to mobile phones.
Here’s a look at the smartphones that grabbed attention in 2022 with their top-notch features.
iPhone 14 Series
Cupertino-based tech giant, Apple, unveiled its next generation of iPhones – the iPhone 14 series on September 7 at the highly anticipated ‘Far Out’ event. This time, Apple has ditched the iPhone Mini it launched in 2020 as part of the iPhone 12 series. However, Apple has added a new device, the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus in its latest lineup. While the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus kept the A15 Bionic chip, the high-end iPhone 14 Pro models are powered by Apple’s latest A16 Bionic chip. The new Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro models was one of the highlights of the Pro models this year. In addition, the iPhone 14 Pro models come with the first-ever 48MP camera, crash detection and emergency SOS via satellite function.

OnePlus 10 Pro
The Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus launched its flagship, the OnePlus 10 Pro, in April this year. The latest device from the OnePlus stable comes with the Hasselblad branding and the super-fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The 5G-enabled device runs on Android 12 with ColorOS 12 on top. In addition, it has a 5,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging. from 80 W. On the front of the camera, the OnePlus 10 Pro comes with a triple rear camera module headed by a 48 MP primary camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens and an 8 MP macro camera. The device with a futuristic design also shows off a 32MP selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Series
The premium Android smartphone brand Samsung impressed the international market with the launch of its flagship smartphone in the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. The lineup unveiled in February this year includes the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra. The S22 series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for the Indian market. Low light photography is one of the key facets of the Galaxy S22 series. Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus come with a 50MP wide angle lens, a 12MP ultra wide angle lens, a 10MP telephoto lens on the back panel and a 10MP front camera. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with a built-in S-pen. The top model comes with a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz display. The S22 Ultra has a 108MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens and two 10MP telephoto sensors. On the front, the Ultra is equipped with a 40MP selfie camera.

Nothing Phone (1)
The Carl Pei-led smartphone brand, Nothing, debuted in the global market with the launch of its first device, the Nothing Phone (1). The device with its unique design and Glyph interface LEDs became the talk of the town. The phone (1) comes with a dual 50 MP camera module on the back and an OLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The device is made from a frame of 100 percent recycled aluminum and about 50 percent of the plastic parts are made from recycled materials. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset and runs on Nothing OS. The 6.5-inch OLED display supports HDR 10+ and has a 4,500 mAh battery with 33 W fast charging.

Vivo X80 Pro 5G
Chinese smartphone brand Vivo unveiled its premium Android device, the Vivo X80 Pro 5G, in April this year. The device features the updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with Vivo’s V+1 imaging chop. The device comes with a 6.78-inch display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a resolution of 2K. The device packs a 4,700mAh battery with an 80W charger and support for 50W wireless charging. The device comes with impressive camera specs with a 50MP + 48MP + 12MP + 8MP module on the back and a 32MP front camera.

Xiaomi 12 Pro
The Chinese smartphone maker launched the Xiaomi 12 Pro in April. It features a 2K+ AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1500 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The smartphone praised for its design also offers great photography opportunities. The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with three 50MP rear cameras and a 32MP front camera. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and runs on MIUI 13 on top of Android 12. The 120W Hypercharge charger that supports a 4,500 mAh battery is one of the highlights of this device. The Xiaomi 12 Pro also supports 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging.

Google Pixel 7 Pro
Google unveiled its highly anticipated Pixel 7 seven series in October. The Pixel Pro is one of the most anticipated flagship devices of the year. The premium device is powered by the second-generation Tensor G2 processor, a 4nm chipset with 2 cortexes. The Pixel 7 Pro has a triple rear camera module with a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP secondary camera and a 48MP telephoto lens. South Korean smartphone brand Samsung also made headlines in 2022 after it launched its premium line of foldable devices. The brand launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 worldwide in September. Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The Z Flip 4 comes with a 1.9-inch AMOLED cover display and a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED display. It has 12MP main and ultra-wide cameras and is powered by a 3700mAh battery with support for 25W charging. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a 7.6-inch primary AMOLED display and a 6.2-inch cover display. The device also supports S PEN. It comes with a triple rear camera module with a 50 MP camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 10 MP 3X telephoto shooter. It also features a 10 MP selfie shooter and a 4 MP camera below the display.
