Best in 2022: Smartphones with the best battery backup this year

All phones with the best battery specs do not guarantee the best battery life. This is why choosing a phone with the best battery backup can be a hassle. But we’ve got you covered with our top picks with the best battery life.

By Aman Rashid: There are the best phones with the best features, but what are you going to do with a phone with the best stuff if it doesn’t have the best battery life? Therefore, when choosing your next phone, always make sure that the device has a sturdy battery with great endurance. But, what were the smartphones of 2022 with the best battery backup? We’ve put together a list of the best smartphones of the year that had fantastic battery backup. The list includes Asus ROG Phone 6, iPhone 14 Plus and three more.

1. Asus ROG Phone 6

Not only is the Asus ROG Phone 6 the most feature-packed phone of 2022, but it’s also a phone that’s every gamer’s dream. This phone is literally packed with features like a 165Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, 12GB of RAM and of course a large 6000mAh battery.

The Asus ROG Phone 6 is the one and only blue flagship phone with a big 6000mAh battery, and probably the best endurance phone in 2022. Yes, the big battery makes the phone a bit bulky, but the good part is that you can push the phone to its limits and that the battery does not run out. In fact, the phone is also among the best when it comes to thermal management. What’s more, you also get support for 66W charging, the Brick comes in the box and given the size of the battery it takes around 60 minutes to fully charge, which is perfectly acceptable.

2. iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhones have never really been battery champions, but that changed last year after the iPhone 13 Pro Max had exceptional battery life. Now a similar performance was also expected from the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but in the end the device failed to deliver. This year, however, was another big iPhone in terms of battery life, and it even outperformed the iPhone 13 Pro Max. We’re talking about the iPhone 14 Plus.

Now, despite having similar battery specs to the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Plus is a great battery champ. And despite having a smaller battery than the ROG Phone 6, i.e. a 4,323 mAh battery under the hood, it delivers phenomenal battery life, thanks in part to iOS software optimization. Sure, we wish the charging times could have been faster, but yes, once the phone is fully charged, there’s no stopping the iPhone 14 Plus.

3.Redmi K50i

Setting a solid benchmark in the sub-Rs 25,000 price segment, the Redmi K50i is definitely a great option for performance-oriented users. So, like many phones in this price segment, the Redmi K50i packs a big 5,000mAh battery under the hood, and there’s also support for 67W fast charging. Some of the main highlights of the Redmi K50i include a screen with a fast 144 Hz refresh rate, lots of RAM and a Dimensity 8100 SoC under the hood. Combine this with liquid cooling, excellent software optimisation, great thermals and of course the 5,000 mAh cell – what you get here is excellent endurance from the Redmi K50i. Plus, the 67W fast charging also allows you to fully charge this phone from 0 to 100% in just about 45 minutes.

4. OnePlus 10 Pro

The OnePlus 10 Pro is that phone on the list, which has a special place in my heart, because it’s one of the phones coming out this year, which I’ve used as my primary phone for a long time, and even now, I’m started using it again as my secondary device, which I replaced my iPhone 13 Pro with.

Now the OnePlus 10 Pro is a fantastic phone and packs a big 5000mAh battery, which not only promises great endurance but also delivers on its promise. Even with intensive use, you can use this phone for another day on a single charge, for example. And just in case you don’t have the opportunity, you can always fast-charge it with the included 80W charger. In addition, the OnePlus 10 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, a chipset that is notorious for heating, but thanks to the 5-layer cooling system in the OnePlus 10 Pro, thermal management is great and the phone runs cool and smooth.

5.Poco M4 5G

People who looked at a budget smartphone this year did not see many options come out. This was partly due to the rising cost of components, which has increased the average selling price of telephones. And hence the price segment of less than Rs 15,000 can be considered as the new budget category. That said, the Poco M4 5G was released this year in the sub-Rs 15,000 price segment, and the phone did not disappoint.

The Poco M4 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery under the hood, and as this is an entry-level model there’s not much you can do to push this phone to its limits. And so, once you charge this phone up and start using it, you can rest assured that you can push it to its limits and it won’t run out of power. Expect this phone to last at least two days on a single charge with moderate use. Charging speeds are set at 18W, though, and while thankfully you get the charger in the box, the charging times themselves could have been quicker. But again, for the price of this phone, there’s not much to complain about here.
