Tera Raid battles are a fun and rewarding feature in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, where trainers can battle Terastallized raid bosses. These bosses come in a variety of Tera types and difficulty levels, with higher opponents yielding better rewards.
However, when trainers get particularly tough Tera raids, some Pocket Monsters perform much better than others. This is especially true if trainers forego online battles with their fellow players and decide to try the raids with NPC trainers. The Pokemon used by NPC trainers are generally not as effective as those controlled by an actual player, so trainers using solo Tera Raids must use the right picks to carry the team.
There are countless strains that perform well in solo raids, but here are a few that stand out in particular.
Top Pokemon for solo Tera Raids in Scarlet and Violet
1) Iron Hands (Paradox Hariyama)
While technically exclusive to the Violet version of the game, Iron hands can be obtained in Scarlet through trading. This futuristic version of Hariyama has incredibly high Attack stats, giving it the power to take down enemies with overwhelming physical attacks.
Iron Hands’ power is further enhanced by his Quark Drive ability, increasing his stats by 30% while electrifying the battlefield. However, if trainers give him the Booster Energy item, this ability can be activated at the start of battle without changing the scenery.
2) Coraidon
Another excellent physical attacker mainly found in Pokemon Scarlet is Koraidon, a force to be reckoned with in raids, even when fighting in offline mode. The Fighting/Dragon type has exceptional attack stats, although it leans more towards physical attacks.
Using an ability like Orichalcum Pulse gives it the power to boost its stats (just like Iron Hands), and the ability remains active as long as the bright sunlight covers the battlefield. Fortunately, Orichalcum Pulse itself provides bright sunlight when Koraidon enters the fight.
3) Miradon
The legendary mascot of Pokemon Violet Miraidon is just as powerful as his counterpart in the Scarlet version, albeit in different ways. While Koraidon excels at physical attacks, Miraidon is a skilled fighter with a high stat ceiling on special attacks.
His Hadron Engine ability gives him the same stat boosts as Koraidon, but uses electric terrain instead of bright sunlight. With attacks such as Electro Drift and Dragon Pulse, Miraidon Tera can dominate Raids and various bosses.
4) Fluttering Moons (Paradox Misdreavus)
Misdreavus is quite a warrior in his own right, but Flutter Mane is in a whole different league. This Paradox Pokemon found in the wild in Scarlet has a very intriguing Ghost/Fairy types, along with excellent Special Attack stats and also good speed and special defense. If trainers don’t mind giving it Booster Energy, it also gets a 30% stat boost, thanks to its Protosynthesis ability.
Flutter Mane is a spectacular fighter against Dragon, Dark, Fighting, Ghost and Psychic types as it has access to moves such as Moonblast, Shadow Ball and Mystical Fire.
5) Gholdengo
While evolving from Gimmighoul to Gholdengo using 999 Gimmighoul Coins is somewhat tedious, Pokemon Trainers certainly won’t be disappointed with the result.
Gholdengo may look a little goofy, but this Steel/Ghost-type creature is an offensive powerhouse with a very high base Special Attack stat. His Good as Gold ability keeps his stats from being lowered and he can use powerful moves like Shadowball, Make it Rain, and Flash Cannon. It’s not the most durable Pokemon, but the rampant damage it can unleash makes it a fantastic Tera Raid choice in both solo and co-op play.
